Anthony Burkart

Director - Bikram Yoga in El Cajon

Bikram Instructor

I have been practicing bikram yoga for about 7 years, and graduated from teacher training in fall of 2005. Until now, I taught and lived in hawaii. In 2007 and 2008, I represented Hawaii, in the Yoga National Championships. Previous to yoga, I was a long-distance runner - running races up to 100 miles (sometimes called "Ultra-Distance Races" or, simply "Ultra-Marathons").

I believe, whole-heartedly, in yoga - that it can teach you to become your full potential. You only need to learn to focus your mind.

Eric Blank

Bikram Instructor

Eric

Eric Blank has been practicing hatha yoga for over 10 years. In the fall of 2000, he attended Bikram’s teacher training course in Los Angeles. He then taught Bikram’s Yoga locally until opening a studio with his partner in El Cajon. Eric has been teaching Bikram’s for 7 years.

“It was the first class that sold me on Bikram’s sequence and style of practice. It not only is the best workout that I have ever done but the sequence is scientifically designed to work and maintain every part of the body. I think of Bikram’s Yoga as the instruction manual for the body that we were never given at birth. Consistently done the yoga maintains a strong and flexible body while strengthening the mind.”

I knew I wanted to teach this yoga when I saw that the teacher never touches the students but guides them into their own health and healing. The student becomes responsible for their own life, their own problems and fixing those problems.

It is a process of regaining your personal power and healing yourself while opening yourself to a beautiful journey with yourself. This yoga is for everyone. My teacher Bikram says, “There is always some posture that will make the body better.”—Which leads to—“It is never too late, never too old, never too bad, never to sick-to do yoga and start from scratch again.” Eric is also trained in massage therapy.

Kim Nevandro

Bikram Instructor

Massage Therapist

Kim

I first started yoga in 2000 in Eureka, Ca. I had a severe knee injury from snowboarding and refused surgery. I was very limited as to what I could do. After 8 struggling months of practicing 3-5 times a week, my knee was completely back to normal. It took a lot of time and patience. Not only helping me to heal injuries but mentally, emotionally, psychologically became stronger in the mind. I graduated training in the fall of 2002. I have taught in studios all over San Diego, and have been a visiting instructor to many studios around the country... Nevada, Kauai and Florida. I recently spent five months in New Zealand and 2 months in Australia teaching and having the most amazing experiences. I am happy to be home in San Diego teaching, practicing, learning and continuing to grow.

Important to remember... "No day is the same in the yoga room. Be patient and trust the process".

Wendy Harp

Bikram Instructor

Tri-athlete

Wendy

Wendy graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Accounting. Working in the accounting industry for over 10 years had its challenges and rewards; however, there was “something” missing in her life. As an active person, interested in health & fitness, she always wants to incorporate fitness as a larger part of her life. Wendy tried Bikram Yoga in 2000, to cross train for triathlons and other sports. She fell in love with Bikram’s! In 2006, she attended the intensive, nine-week training at the Bikram Yoga College of India Headquarters in Los Angeles and became certified as a Bikram’s instructor. “Becoming a certified Bikram Yoga teacher has allowed me to pursue my love of fitness and help others.” The training has helped Wendy deepen her practice, allowing her to better focus on the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of the yoga. “I have learned to be more patient with myself and to never compare my practice from day to day.”
